Dvorni square- Ljubljana

Dvorni trg is one of Ljubljana’s oldest squares. Before 1515 it used to mark the edge of Ljubljana’s Jewish ghetto. Later it was named Burgplatz after the nearby home and office of provincial governor deputies. Since 1848 the Slovenian name Dvorni trg has been used instead of the German Burgplatz. The square, occupying a picturesque site above the river Ljubljanica, was thoroughly renovated in 2002, when several sets of stairs and platforms were built to accommodate restaurants’ summer gardens and provide a unique venue for smaller open-air events. Particularly in the summer, Dvorni trg hosts a large number of concerts, dance shows and children’s events.
